How to make Tiki Torch Bottles

Easy to make Tiki Torches!

It is another beautiful day here in Florida and I am thinking about the fun we had last night grilling and hanging outdoors until after dark. That brings me to today’s fun idea.

Bottle Torches from Recycled Bottles

Bottle turches

Look at these cool torches for your yard!

If you save interesting bottles and have been looking for a cool way to reuse them, I’ve got you covered. I have tried different options for this project but, this is the easiest one I have found and it worked the best for us. It’s also very easy to change out the oil and wick when needed. I love to make Tiki torches from recycled bottles.

Materials needed washer and a nut.

Materials needed.

Easy to Find Materials

You can find your materials at any hardware store, like a Lowe’s. You will need a wick, washer and a nut. Of course, you will also need some fancy bottles and Tiki torch oil.  I used liquor bottles but you can use wine or soda. Whatever your preference, just make sure they are glass! The 3/8 thick wicks are perfect for this project and many come in the longer length for bottles.

Measure the opening of your bottle. the washer width needs to be wide enough to not fall into your bottle and the hole needs to be wide enough for your wick. The nut needs to be big enough for the wick and a little snug, not tight. Too tight and no oil gets into the wick so no flame. Too loose and wick will not stay in place. Make sure the nut is bigger than the washer opening. I promise, this will be easy to find. Bring your wicks with you to try it out before you buy. They have loose nuts in drawers.

Putting it All Together

Put the wick into the bottle

Adding the wick

I said this was easy so here we go. Fill your bottle with Tiki Torch oil and put in your wick. Don’t let go!

Almost done!

Slide washer over wick and then the nut. Done and done! I said it was easy, actually quick and easy!

These look great sitting outside!

Here you have it! Quick, easy and a great way to use those fun bottles you have been holding on to. Another perfect Stay at Home Project!
